linux server setup how-to?

Am I missing something? I can't seem to find a "how to" for the linux server install.

I am running the client on an XP machine. I have downloaded the quake4linux1[1].0.2147.12.x86.zip file, which says it's a converter, suppose to convert the windows files to linux files. I haven't ran it yet, getting ready to. Anyway.... where's the "how to" for a stand alone linux server?

Ok, once I ran the linux installer, it's telling me that I need a list of files from the q4base directory off of my DVD. No problem, except, they're 2.4 gigs or so!!! Jesus christ! So tell me, it's gonna ask for my CD Key anyway, right? So why doesn't someone bundle all this up and allow everyone to download it from a mirror somewhere? I have a 3meg cable connection, but the upload speed is like 24Kbps. It's gonna take two days for me to upload this to my remote linux game server.

Ask the DC if they can pop the Disks into the server for you.

THe reason they don't have a 2.4gig download up is beacuse the bandwidth costs alot of money. A couple thousand downloads and your looking at some serious costs there
